What The Failure? Moisture Edition. Part 1: Rutting.

Those tramline dips that we drop into, marking the beginning of the end. But why are they occuring?
We analysed a sample section of 2,000 miles/ 3,000km of road data:
- The rate of rutting increase for the last decade
- The subsurface moisture levels, measured using TDRI scanning technology
Here's what the statistics showed:
- As moisture levels increase, so do rates of rutting š
- Areas with high subsurface moisture levels rutted (failed) over twice as fast as the low moisture areas, needing a rebuild sooner.
The good news? If asset managers can spot those high moisture levels before the rutting occurs, they could just get ahead of it and save a costly (and frustrating) rebuild.
