Stop Guessing!
If you don’t have the REAL data, you cannot plan effectively.
WHAT IS THE TDRI SYSTEM AND HOW IS IT RELEVANT TO ME
TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometry)
TDRI Solutions off the worlds first and only, patented technology to scan moisture under pavement, at highway speeds, without drilling a single hole or, closing roads or placing a single road cone.
We provide relative moisture level readings so you can easily spot and monitor excess moisture levels underneath pavement. This helps highlight areas of concern, implement maintenance and future remedial action planning.
Creating more resilient, longer lasting and safer roads.
The facts:
Scan Depth
Our current system is calculated to 440mm / 18 Inches.
Scan Speeds
We can scan a traffic speeds (depending on local area speed limited and vehicle restrictions).
Theoretically our testing is calibrated up to 145mph. Scan resolution is effected by speed with 80kph / 50mph giving continuous data and lower speeds giving overlapping samples.
Non Invasive
scanning technology
Scan Size
Our main scanning unit currently covers an area of 1200mm wide (lane width), by 600mm long, with pulses approximately every 600mm (speed dependent), effectively giving continuous measurements at highway speeds.
What pavement surfaces can it scan
Our system is optimized for Asphalt scanning.
We can scan almost all pavement surfaces, however our scan pulses are electromagnetic waves, so steel or large amounts of conductive metals do effect the results.
Subsequently the technology is not ideal for CRCP or infrastructure with steel reinforcing, like bridges or over passes.
Instant Wireless Data Upload
As soon as the scan has been completed, the data is wirelessly uploaded to our portal. You can review live data while the scanning team is still in the area or check over it at any later date.
GPS Accuracy
Our latest GPS algorithm is tuned to give definition down to 100mm. Providing pinpoint data accuracy over your entire network.
HOW OUR TECHNOLOGY MEASURES MOISTURE
We’ve developed an advanced system that advances the application of Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technology.
This breakthrough system has a configuration of sensor transmission rods that sit parallel and adjacent to the road surface, allowing for high speed, continuous and non-invasive measurement of the subsurface material. In comparison, legacy road subsurface moisture systems have typically come in the form invasive test pits or radioactive NDM's.

The TDR measurement method directly detects a material's dielectric constant, which is a measure of how well that material absorbs electromagnetic radiation. The more water the material contains, the higher its dielectric constant.
Our system does this by propagating an electromagnetic pulse down the transmission rods and through the target material. The pulses time to return is directly related to the dielectric constant, and therefore moisture content of the material.
The system captures 5-20 samples per second at 24” long x 48” wide x 17” deep (600mm L x 1200mm W x 440mm D).

How is the data delivered to me?

Complete Scan
We mobilise on site, calibrate the unit, then scan while driving over the scoped area.

Package Data
Data is packaged into a project account for easy access.

Portal Access
We provide account login access to our portal for data visualisation and extraction.

Our TDRI Web Data Portal is an awesome tool to quickly see your scans as soon as they have been completed, and get a real world visual representation laid over google maps.
In our portal you can look at the scans in google street view or satellite view, zoom in to see exactly where the measurement is from, are there drains in the area or obvious causes, or zoom right out and see your entire network moisture map in on easy to see screen.
It makes spotting issues so easy your kids can help.
What about my existing asset management system?

TDRI Scan vs 2-Year Fault/Repair History
Our data is a great complimentary tool to use with your existing deflection, GPR, surface condition and other road condition scan data. We provide the missing piece of the puzzle to give you the complete picture.
Our scans, or a section of, can easily be exported from the TDRI portal into a CSV file for use with other systems.
Our support team will work alongside your IT team to help for a smooth transition of data into your existing asset management system.Done
